I had been through the usual with contractors.  The work went from good to not so good, and even the ones who did decent work either didn't follow up well or wouldn't accept responsibility if a mistake was made.  I was entering into a huge project including a complete kitchen remodel and structural changes (lifting the ceiling and roof) to the adjacent TV room/den.  I had the will to deal with the inconvenience, I had saved the money, but I didn't know a contractor I was willing to trust.  

On an impulse, I emailed a friend and asked for the name and number of her contractor friend who did the huge remodel on her home.  She emailed back immediately with Paul Provencher's name and cell phone number.  I called him.  He called me back.  The rest is happy history.

Paul showed up and immediately "got" my concept.  He offered a lot of useful input in terms of what was possible and practical and what was not and why.  I was immediately confident that he knew what he was talking about and would do a good job.  In a few days, he presented me with an estimate, fully explained it as we went through it, and I knew exactly what I was buying.

Within the time span he promised, his workers started showing up at my house, and somehow, in an order that made perfect sense, the renovation began, progressed, and was finished.  My confidence in Paul extended to his workers, and I was never disappointed.  The carpenter in charge was skilled and experienced.  All of them were easy to have around the house, always pleasant and courteous, and always working.  I was home for most of the work, and they patiently bore my presence, answered all my questions, and made darn sure that the two cats never got out of the house.  

Paul was a presence throughout the process.  Sometimes he was working here and sometimes elsewhere, but I don't think a day went by that he wasn't here to resolve problems, check on progress, make suggestions.

The bottom line is that I'm thrilled with the results of his work.  Pictures are available.  I love showing it off.  More importantly, when things have come up in my house since the remodel, but having nothing to do with the remodel, Paul is always willing to be available and be helpful.  He actually either answers his cell phone or returns calls.  At some point, more work has to be done in my house and Paul Provencher is the contractor who will do it.
